Writer's Guidelines Mêlée publishes original poetry, essays, cartoons, and political discourse.  Please use the following guidelines when submitting. Mailed submissions:  Manuscripts printed on white, 8-1/2" X 11" paper.  Essays should be double-spaced.  Please send no more than six poems at a time.  Please print on one side of the paper only.  Cover pages for manuscripts should be the only page that contains author's name or identifying information.  Manuscripts can be mailed to Submissions, PO Box 4724, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.  No reply will be made to unaccepted manuscripts that are not accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope. PREFERRED Email submissions:  Please email poems or essays as Word 2003 attachments or Adobe .PDF files.  Email body should contain name, address, and phone number.  We will return email of acceptance or rejection.  Please do not inquire about your submission. We need cartoons and artwork!  Black and white only!  Cartoons and photographs must be gray scale (black and white).  .PDF or .JPEG files at 600 dpi attached to email including complete contact information.  Do not include crop marks or design formatting of any kind in the PDF. Cover letters are not required; however, you can send one if you wish.  We publish based on submission merit, not based on academic or publication credentials. We accept simultaneous submissions; however, please notify us in a timely fashion if your submission is accepted elsewhere. Our reporting time is usually around 6 months.  We read as we receive submissions and contact writers upon acceptance usually a month before edition is due for release. Writers whose work is accepted will be asked to email the poems or essays in Microsoft Word 2003 or earlier format to submissions@poetrymelee.com. Payment is five copies of the journal.  No cash compensation is available at this time. All work submitted to Mêlée is considered for publication and writers will be notified of acceptance by USPS Priority Mail and/or email.  For email notification, please include email address with submission. Mêlée holds first serial rights for materials published: copyright reverts to the author upon publication. We do not require copyright prior to submission.
